Orchard improvements are progressing…

Work has begun on the site of the orchard now and over the next month the new outdoor classroom, entrance feature, wildlife discovery trail, new seats and picnic table will be installed. These features have all been funded through Groundwork UK and Big Lottery Fund’s Community Spaces programme.

A temporary fence has been put around the trees to protect the wildflowers whilst the orchard develops. This was kindly funded by Hyde District Assembly as the flowers needed some respite after some were munched by a deer who took up residence in the park for a short time. We hope they can recover to put on a display for this year.

Unfortunately, there was an incident recently where two trees where stolen and several others vandalised. We very much hope this was a one-off but we would like to ask all visitors to please keep an eye out for anyone harming the trees and report anything to the local police or park staff.

The orchard as it looks at the moment, everything is developing!
